Overview

By taking undergraduate students who have an interest in public service to Washington, D.C. the Asian Chamber Foundation introduces them to career opportunities in the government, lobbying and non-profit sectors. Students meet with community leaders and supporters encourage the development of these AAPI students into leaders and representatives of their community. Alumni have met with members of Congress, leaders of the White House Initiative on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders, ministers at the Embassy of Japan, representatives of national trade groups, to name a few. Students have the opportunity to explore our nation’s treasures, such as the Smithsonian museums and national landmarks, and have access to the U.S. Capitol and the White House.

The Scholars Trip to Washington, D.C. is a five-day program offered to undergraduate AAPI students and AAPI-ally students. These meetings give students exposure to job or internship opportunities, as well as access to AAPI representation in positions of power. A final day is spent debriefing to help participants maximize on the experience and to set goals. Trips are held annually in the spring.
